The Burnham Cricket Club was founded in 1861 with Mr JB Thwaites elected as inaugural president. The club played almost exclusively locally in its early years using wagons and horses to travel to away games. The earliest opponents were Weston super Mare CC ,N Petherton ,Bridgwater and other local sides.
Only one Burnham player has played Test Cricket but we have had a few First Class cricketers including Peter Graham, Peter Courtenay, Darren Foster, Nick Evans, Jacob Malao, Bob Clapp and Richard Harden.
The club currently plays in the Somerset League Division 1 and Division 7 on Saturdays and the WSM mid week league. Junior training is undertaken and all juniors new and more experienced are welcome to attend. The club also very much welcomes new experienced players to join our senior teams.
